Brain Tumor Classification Using Various Machine Learning Algorithms

Abstract:

The machine learning and image techniques are extensively used in identification of cancer cells in the brain. Abnormal growth of cells and rapid increase in cell division leads to cancer. The accurate prediction of benign and malignant type cancers can be done precisely using the latest techniques. The implementation of different classification techniques helps in identifying the tumor in a short span of time. Classification of the tumor is very crucial and it should be identified properly. For malignant cancer, life span of the patient will be mostly less than a year. The patients life can be saved if cancer is identified in the initial stage itself. There are a number of steps to identify the tumor as malignant or benign. This abnormal growth of cells increases pressure inside the brain and the disease intensity will increase. DNA of the cell growth should be monitored in a regular interval for accurate identification. Here, the authors intend to discuss about the emerging new methodology in Machine Learning (ML) algorithms like Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Decision Tree (DT) predictive models which helps in the identification of cancer in their earlier phase. The importance of emerging new technologies and their application in diagnosing different stages of brain cancer are analyzed in this chapter.
