Traceability of Manufactured Parts in the Supply Chain
Abstract:
In todays world manufacturing industry faces external product failures and to maintain safety and security standards the company may recall the product for parts replacement which may lead to loss of companys fortune and huge degradation in brand preference. The company may determine to recall certain number of units with deformities and replace with new components. To do this kind of recall manufacturers use a technique called traceability, wherein the quality at different levels are examined in accordance with control standards specified by the company. This is more so in the automotive manufacturing industry. The reason being the components are to be frequently checked to avoid deformities to the suppliers. Hence, the supply chain has a predominant role in this process. In this study, the traceability process carried out in Brakes India has been studied. Moreover, the drawbacks are identified and a new model overcoming the limitations in the current model is proposed for manufacturing efficiency.
