The Mediating Role of Organizational Commitment in Relationship between Talent Management Practices and Talent Retention

Abstract:
This study examines the effect of talent management practices on talent retention or employee retention and commitment of employees. Talent management practices considered are workforce planning, job enrichment and knowledge sharing. The study is descriptive in nature and structured questionnaire is used to collect data from 287 IT employees identified through proportionate stratified random sampling. Collected data is analysed using correlation, regression and mediation analysis to achieve the objectives. The main findings of the study are: positive correlation among talent management practices, talent retention and organizational commitment; positive correlation between organizational commitment and talent retention and job enrichment has more influence on organizational commitment and workforce planning has more influence on talent retention. It has been observed from the mediation analysis that organizational commitment partially mediates with workforce planning and knowledge sharing and completely mediates job enrichment.
