They share abundant responsibility and perform a wide spectrum of duties in managing the family, maintaining household activities like rearing, feeding, attending to farm labour, tending domestic animals and the like, even then they suffer being both economically and socially invisible. The primary objective of the paper is to study the extent of rural women empowerment through various income-generating activities. Kadapa (YSR) district is one of the pioneering districts for implementation of DWCRA as pilot project in the State of Andhra Pradesh along with Srikakulam and Adilabad districts. Presently, there are 51 Mandals in Kadapa district which consists of 35,338 SHGs.
