Smart Waste Management System Using IoT

Abstract:
Waste management is a big challenge for most of the countries throughout the world. The garbage bins are being overfilled with solid wastes and some wastes are being spilled out resulting in pollution. This condition leads to various diseases, as large number of insects and mosquitoes breed on it. In order to avoid this unhygienic situation, IoT based smart waste management has been designed. The major key points of this model are to sense the level of wastes prevailing in dustbins using IR sensors, determines the type of wastes, transmits the information to the waste collector via GSM module, monitors the waste details from the city corporation office using LabVIEW simulation and local residents knows about the waste details using an application known as Smart Waste Management App.
