Filter Design Toolbox for Multistandard Transceivers

M. Sony and R. Latha

Abstract:

A digital decimation filter is designed for delta ?sigma analog to digital converter. The designed filter has a multi-stage structure which is comprised of a stage CIC filter, two stage half ? band filters, and a stage compensation filter. Nowadays in wireless and audio application the use of efficient digital filter is increasing because of the speed of conversion, fast performance. So the filters are designed to match the requirements. The demand for new telecommunication services requiring higher capacities. In this research, a decimation filter design tool for wireless communication standards consisting of GSM and WiMAX is developed in MATLAB using GUIDE environment for visual analysis. The user can select a required wireless communication standard and obtain the corresponding multistage decimation filter implementation using the toolbox. The toolbox helps the user or design engineer to perform a quick design and analysis of decimation filter for multiple standards without doing extensive calculation and to find the cost implementation and corresponding filter co-efficient.
